Bismillah! Ready for Umrah? Let’s Pack Smart!
Umrah is not just a trip — it’s a deeply spiritual journey. And trust me, the last thing you want is to be worrying about what you forgot to pack while you're boarding your flight.
So, whether you’re traveling solo or with a group, this Umrah Packing Checklist for 2025–26 will help you pack smart and stay focused on what really matters: your worship.
Essentials: Bags, Pouches, and Smart Travel Tools
Strong and sturdy check-in bag and cabin bag with wheels and with a luggage tag! (Invest on good and sturdy bags as they are going to be your important companion of the journey)
Backpack (for keeping water bottle, dua book, medicine, snacks etc. while you go for prayers)
Neck wallet / passport pouch/ small sling bag
Laundry bag
Slipper bag – Don't skip this! You may need to carry your slippers into the mosque.
Keep the weight of bags under the airline’s baggage weight limit. Especially for sisters — no point carrying 23kg bags and struggling with them at airport and hotel.

Section 1: Important Documents
The following documents are very important in this journey. Without them, you won’t even board your flight — let alone reach Makkah. Keep their digital copies in your mobile.
Passport
Valid Umrah visa
Flight tickets
Hotel booking confirmation
Small notebook with emergency contacts (just in case your phone dies)
Personal Tip: Keep all these in money belt or small sling bag that stays with you all the time and documents are easily retrieved. Don’t keep them in Check-in or Cabin luggage.
Section 2: Ihram & Clothing
Whether you’re staying for 5 days or 15, you don’t need a full wardrobe. Focus on light, comfortable, and respectful clothing.
2 sets of Ihram (for men) – One for wearing, one for backup (Make yourself comfortable in Ihram)
3-4 Abayas and hijabs or scarves (for women)
2-3 sets of regular and light clothes for non-Ihram days (remember days are hot)
A light jacket/shawl (it gets cold at night in Madinah or if you are below the ACs at Masjid-al haram)
Cap or hat (sun protection, when outside Ihram conditions)
Comfortable slippers/sandals (you need comfortable footwear as you will walk A LOT. Please test them, if they are new. Ensure they are comfortable)
Sunglasses (desert sun is no joke!)
Sleepwear

Section 3: Toiletries (Unscented is Key!)
In Ihram, no perfumes or scented products are allowed. Even your soap and shampoo should be fragrance-free.
Unscented soap, shampoo, body wash (if possible, otherwise avoid using regular soap/shampoo when in ihram)
Toothbrush & unscented toothpaste (again, avoid using your regular toothpaste when in ihram)
Disposable razor (for post-Umrah shaving and save 10 riyals; moreover don’t keep blade or scissors in cabin luggage)
Nail cutter, comb
Moisturizer (unscented)
Light weight towel

Section 4: Medications & Health Items
You’re in a different country, different food, different water — so always pack your own meds, even for minor issues.
Painkillers (Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, etc.)
Cold, cough, flu tablets
Prescribed medications (with doctor’s note, if possible)
Band-aids, ointments, allergy creams
ORS sachets for dehydration
Sun screen

Section 5: Religious Essentials
These items help you maximize your spiritual experience.
Qur’an app (make sure it's downloaded in advance)
Dua book or list of personal duas
Nusuk app
Tasbeeh counter or digital tally
Prayer mat/Janamaz
Miswak

Section 6: Technology & Miscellaneous
Universal adapter
Power bank
Refillable water bottle
Some snacks (biscuits, dry fruits, ORS, glucose)
Dates (Keep some extra to share in the Haram or with hotel staff. Imagine the reward of someone breaking their fast with your dates.)
Apps: Google Maps, Qibla finder app, translation app

Bonus Tips:
Label your bags — many Umrah suitcases look the same
Carry extra zip-lock bags for organizing socks, toiletries, medicine, etc.
Travel light. You’ll want extra space for zamzam and souvenirs.
Please pack lightly but smartly. Don’t overload. You’re not shifting houses; you’re going to the House of Allah. Keep your journey simple and your ibadah heavy.
Final Thoughts: Travel Light, Pray Heavy
Umrah is a journey of the heart. But a little planning and smart packing will help you stay focused on your Ibadah, not your missing charger or foot blisters.
Further, share generously. Walk humbly. And smile often — you’re a guest of Allah. If you help others during your journey, even with something as small as an extra soap bar or a date, your rewards may multiply more than you can count.
May Allah accept your Umrah and make it easy and rewarding for you. Ameen!
